Baby Walkers - now ILLEGAL in Canada!
Baby walkers are a danger to your child! Walkers are the leading cause of head injuries in children under 2 years of age. Canada introduced a voluntary ban on baby walkers in 1989. On April 7, 2004, Canada became the first country ever to ban the sale, importation and advertisement of baby walkers. This ban extends to modified and second hand baby walkers. This means that it is illegal for garage sale operators to sell baby walkers and consumers can no longer purchase walkers in the United States and bring them into Canada. Unfortunately, Canadian children are still at risk of walker-related injuries since some are available as hand-me-downs. If you have a walker, discard it. Destroy the walker and remove the wheels so that someone will not be tempted to retrieve and use it, thereby putting their child at risk.
